About Garretson 
The Garretson Industrial Development Corporation is a non-profit organization. One of our primary goals is to establish an Industrial Park for the City of Garretson. Garretson itself is located twenty minutes from Sioux Falls and its airport, fifteen minutes from I-29 and eight minutes from I-90.
A main Class-1 BNSF Railroad line (considered the only one in the state of SD) intersects at Garretson from Sioux Falls, Sioux City, and Minneapolis. Potential sites for access by rail spur are located on the outskirts of Garretson.
Grant money was used to purchase a 9.89 acre site within Garretson city limits. This location is adjacent to SD Highway 11 for quick and easy access. The 9.89 acre site has been surveyed and platted; had an environmental assessment completed; soil bored and tested; and established covenants. The City of Garretson also provides property tax abatements for new businesses.
Some utilities already provided to this Industrial Park site include: Minnehaha County rural water, natural gas, electricity and communication lines. Alliance Communications, our local telecommunication company, is state-of-the-art.
Our latest project was to get city sewer to the Industrial Park. This project was completed in early 2009.
